Why Stay in Chamonix?

We visited Chamonix ourselves last year and absolutely loved it. Even if you have no intention of skiing, there's so much to do that it makes a fantastic winter mountain break for couples, families or a group of friends.

One of the biggest attractions is the Aiguille du Midi cable car, taking you up to an incredible 3,842 metres for breathtaking views across the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.

We'd also recommend riding the famous Montenvers Red Train to the Mer de Glace, France's largest glacier, and if you're looking for something a little different, there's even an alpine coaster for a bit of family-friendly fun.

Finish the day with a drink in one of Chamonix's lively après-ski bars or cosy mountain restaurants. You really don't need to ski to enjoy the atmosphere here, and that's exactly why we think Chamonix is such an underrated winter city break.

Your flights arrive into Geneva Airport, with Chamonix just over the French border. It's one of the easiest mountain resorts in Europe to reach without hiring a car.
