We actually planned to use the TGV on our extreme day trip to Disneyland Paris, but tickets sold out while we were walking to the platform. Because tickets are tied to a specific train and not flexible, we ended up taking an Uber instead.

👉 If you want to see exactly how that worked in real life, read our extreme day trip to Disneyland Paris guide here.

We have taken it three times in the last 12 months, and it’s a really quick and easy way to get to and from the airport.

🚇 RER train

  • Around 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Cheapest option (€14)
  • Requires changes and more effort

When a private transfer is actually better

The TGV sounds perfect, but it’s not always the easiest choice.

A private transfer can be better if:

  • Your flight is delayed
  • You’re travelling with kids
  • You have lots of luggage
  • You want a stress-free arrival

Drivers track your flight, so there’s no pressure if things run late.

👉 We usually use private transfers when travelling as a family, especially with younger kids.

Our experience using the TGV vs Uber

On our trip, we planned to take the TGV but tickets sold out while we were at the station.

Because we hadn’t pre-booked (on purpose), we switched to an Uber:

  • Cost: £48
  • Time: ~50 minutes
  • Door-to-door with no stress

It worked really well, especially as we were tight on time.
