If you're planning a trip to Rovaniemi, you've probably come across Snowman World while researching things to do in Santa Claus Village.
At first glance, it can seem expensive, and we nearly skipped it ourselves. But after visiting twice, we've realised it's much more than just an ice bar or a few ice sculptures.
Snowman World combines an ice restaurant, an ice bar, snow and ice sculptures, giant snow slides, ice skating and snowy play areas, all within Santa Claus Village. If you're short on time or simply want to experience a traditional Lapland ice attraction without travelling outside Rovaniemi, it's a fantastic option.
We've now visited Snowman World twice, most recently in January 2026, and in this guide I'll share exactly what to expect, what's included in the ticket price, how long you'll need, whether it's worth the money and who I think it's best suited to.

Snowman World is a winter attraction located inside Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. Rather than being a single activity, it's a collection of different experiences all included within one ticket.
Inside, you'll find an ice restaurant, an ice bar, impressive snow and ice sculptures, giant snow slides, an outdoor ice-skating rink and plenty of space for children to play in the snow.
One of the things we liked most was that you could come and go throughout the day. Unlike many Lapland activities that last an hour or two, Snowman World lets you explore at your own pace. We spent time looking around, stopped for a drink in the ice bar, had fun on the slides and returned later after exploring the rest of Santa Claus Village.
If you're travelling with children, it's an easy attraction to fit into your day without feeling rushed.
Equally, we saw plenty of couples and groups of friends enjoying the ice bar and restaurant, so it's certainly not just somewhere aimed at young families.
Santa Claus Village itself is completely free to visit. Snowman World is one of the paid attractions within the village, so you'll only need a ticket if you want to go inside Snowman World.
One thing I wasn't completely sure about before visiting was whether the ticket only covered entry or if activities inside were included too.
The good news is that once you're inside, most of the main attractions are included in your admission.

If you don't have your own skates, they can be hired on site, so there's no need to bring your own unless you want to.
One thing I really liked was that there wasn't any pressure to rush. You can spend as little or as long as you like exploring, making it easy to fit around the rest of your day in Santa Claus Village.
Food and drinks in the ice restaurant and ice bar are charged separately, but you're free to look around both as part of your visit. Even if you don't plan on eating there, it's worth stepping inside to admire the incredible ice carvings and frozen tables.

For the 2026/27 winter season, standard admission to Snowman World costs €35 per person, with children under 2 entering free.
Snowman World tickets are valid for the entire day, so you can come and go as you like during opening hours. We found this particularly useful as it meant we could pop back later after exploring the rest of Santa Claus Village.
If you're planning to eat in the Snow Restaurant, combined ticket and meal packages are available. Entry to the Ice Bar is included, but drinks are charged separately.
One extra benefit we didn't realise before visiting is that Snowman World offers free luggage storage for visitors. Elsewhere in Santa Claus Village you'll usually pay around €5 per bag, so if you have a late flight home it can actually save you money while giving you somewhere fun to spend your final few hours.

Snowman World then closes for the season from 18 March 2027, reopening for the 2027/28 winter season.
As opening dates and times can occasionally change depending on weather conditions, it's always worth checking the official website before your visit.
We've visited Snowman World twice. The first time was as adults, and the second was with my teenage daughter for her birthday.
Although teenagers probably aren't the main target audience, she still had a brilliant time. We spent time exploring the ice restaurant and ice bar, admiring the incredible ice sculptures and going down the giant snow slides. Ice skating was another highlight and made it feel much more than just somewhere to look around.
Having visited twice, I'd say Snowman World is best suited to children aged around 5 to 10 years old. The snow slides, skating and play areas are perfect for that age group, and younger children will also love the chance to see the ice buildings and meet the reindeer nearby in Santa Claus Village.
That said, we genuinely enjoyed both visits as older visitors too. If you're travelling as a couple, with friends or with older children, it's still well worth visiting for the unique ice restaurant, ice bar, beautiful ice sculptures and the chance to experience a mini snow hotel without travelling out to somewhere like the Arctic SnowHotel.
I’d allow around two to three hours for Snowman World, although families with younger children could easily stay longer.
The snow slides and ice skating are likely to take up most of your time, particularly if you’re visiting with children aged around 5 to 10. You’ll also want time to explore the snow and ice sculptures, look inside the ice restaurant and stop for a drink in the ice bar.
On both of our visits, we took our time rather than rushing around. Snowman World works well as part of a full day at Santa Claus Village because you can combine it with meeting Santa, visiting the Main Post Office and exploring the other attractions nearby.
How long you need will depend on the weather and the ages of your children. Younger children may happily spend hours repeating the slides, while adults visiting mainly for the ice buildings and bar could probably see everything in around 90 minutes.
I wouldn’t plan an entire day solely around Snowman World, but it’s substantial enough to fill a good part of your visit to Santa Claus Village.

We've now visited twice and would happily go back again, although whether it's worth the ticket price depends on what you're looking for.
If you're visiting with children, especially those aged between 5 and 10, I think Snowman World is one of the best paid attractions in Santa Claus Village. The giant snow slides, ice skating and chance to explore the ice buildings easily kept my daughter entertained for a couple of hours.
For adults, it's a slightly different experience. We enjoyed wandering through the beautifully carved ice sculptures, having a drink in the ice bar and looking around the ice restaurant. It's a great way to experience an ice hotel without travelling further afield.
If you're expecting a full-day attraction, you may come away disappointed. However, if you see it as part of a day exploring Santa Claus Village, it's well worth adding to your itinerary.
After visiting twice, these are the things we'd recommend knowing before you go.
Snowman World is one of the most popular paid attractions in Santa Claus Village, so it can get busy, particularly during December. Visiting earlier in the day or later in the afternoon can make the ice skating rink and snow slides feel much quieter.
Although you'll warm up quickly on the snow slides, you'll still be spending most of your visit outdoors or inside buildings made entirely from ice. Make sure you wear proper winter clothing, warm gloves and waterproof boots.
It's easy to head straight for the slides, but take time to look around the ice sculptures, ice restaurant and ice bar too. Some of the carvings are incredibly detailed and are worth slowing down to appreciate.
We wouldn't recommend travelling to Santa Claus Village just for Snowman World. Instead, combine it with meeting Santa, crossing the Arctic Circle, visiting Santa's Main Post Office and exploring the rest of the village. Together, they make for a brilliant day out.
If you're planning a trip to Rovaniemi, I'd definitely recommend adding Snowman World to your itinerary.
For families with younger children, particularly those aged around 5 to 10, it's one of the best attractions in Santa Claus Village. Between the giant snow slides, ice skating and exploring the ice buildings, there's plenty to keep children entertained for a couple of hours.
Although it's aimed more at families than adults, we still enjoyed both of our visits. Walking through the beautifully carved ice restaurant and ice bar is a unique experience, and it's a great way to experience a snow and ice hotel without travelling further out of Rovaniemi.
Would I visit every time I came to Lapland? Probably not. Once you've experienced it, you know what to expect. But if it's your first trip to Rovaniemi, or you're travelling with children, I think it's well worth the admission price.
