Think Norway is always expensive?

It certainly can be, but if you choose the right flights and hotel, Bergen can be far more affordable than many people expect.

A few weeks ago we featured a Norway Special for our Travel Club members, sharing some of our favourite DIY breaks to Bergen, Tromsø, Stavanger and Trondheim for winter 2026.

Here are a few of the Bergen deals we found from regional UK airports.

We've paired return flights with a stay at Comfort Hotel Bergen to create three easy DIY city breaks.

Stay at Comfort Hotel Bergen

Why Visit Bergen in February?

I visited Bergen in February and honestly thought it was a lovely time to go.

There was still ice floating on parts of the fjord, the surrounding mountains looked stunning and the city felt much quieter than it does during the summer months. If you're lucky, you may even get a crisp, frosty day, making Bergen feel even more magical.

It's also one of the better-value times to visit Norway, with flights and accommodation often costing much less than during the peak summer season.

If I Had 3 Days, This Is Exactly How I'd Spend Them...

❄️ Day 1

✈️ Fly to Bergen.

Check into your hotel before spending the afternoon exploring Bryggen, Bergen's famous UNESCO-listed waterfront.

Finish the day with dinner overlooking the harbour.

❄️ Day 2

🚠 Ride the Fløibanen Funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for incredible views across Bergen and the surrounding fjords.

Spend the afternoon wandering the narrow streets, browsing independent shops and enjoying one of Bergen's many cosy cafés.

❄️ Day 3

🚢 Take a short fjord cruise or simply enjoy a relaxed day exploring more of Bergen's waterfront, fish market and museums before your final evening.

❄️ Departure Day

🥐 Enjoy breakfast before heading back to the airport for your flight home.

If your return flight is later in the day, I'd squeeze in one last stroll around Bryggen before leaving.

One activity I wouldn't hesitate to recommend is the Bergen: Mostraumen Fjord Cruise with Live Guide. It was one of the highlights of my trip and incredible value for money, taking us through dramatic fjords, past waterfalls and spectacular Norwegian scenery.
