Looking for Eurocamp holidays in Switzerland? If you love the idea of staying in a holiday park surrounded by lakes, mountains and incredible Alpine scenery, Switzerland is well worth considering.
There are currently two Eurocamp sites in Switzerland to choose from: Manor Farm near Interlaken and Camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen.
Both are in the beautiful Bernese Oberland region, but they offer slightly different holidays.
Manor Farm is ideal if you want to stay beside a lake, while Camping Jungfrau is surrounded by the spectacular mountains and waterfalls of Lauterbrunnen Valley.
And if neither of those is quite right for you, there are some fantastic independently bookable campsites across Switzerland too.
I've travelled extensively around Switzerland, including Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and Montreux, and it's one of my favourite countries to explore.
The mountain scenery really is something else, and the public transport makes it surprisingly easy to visit some incredible places without needing to drive everywhere.
In this guide, we'll look at the two Eurocamp sites in Switzerland, six alternative Swiss campsites, what facilities they offer and how to plan your holiday from the UK.
If you're new to the country, start with our complete Switzerland travel guide for more advice on destinations, transport and planning your trip.
Eurocamp Switzerland at a Glance
Unlike destinations such as France, Spain and Italy, where Eurocamp has a large selection of holiday parks, Switzerland has just two options in its current range.
Both are in the Bernese Oberland, one of Switzerland's most popular regions for mountain holidays.
| Eurocamp Site | Location | Best For | Swimming |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manor Farm | Lake Thun, Interlaken | Lakeside holidays and family excursions | Lake swimming |
| Camping Jungfrau | Lauterbrunnen | Mountains, waterfalls and hiking | No on-site pool |
The biggest thing to understand is that a Swiss Eurocamp holiday is quite different from a stay at one of the enormous Italian or French holiday parks.
You're not necessarily booking somewhere with huge waterparks, evening entertainment and dozens of activities on site.
Instead, the surrounding mountains, lakes and villages are the main attractions.
That's exactly what makes Switzerland so special.
1. Manor Farm Campsite – Interlaken, Lake Thun
EUROCAMP | BEST FOR LAKESIDE HOLIDAYSIf you're dreaming of a Swiss camping holiday beside a beautiful Alpine lake, Manor Farm Campsite near Interlaken would be one of my first choices.
The campsite is located directly beside Lake Thun, with mountain views and plenty of opportunities to explore the Bernese Oberland.
Manor Farm is particularly well suited to families who enjoy swimming, outdoor activities and sightseeing.
It's also a brilliant base if you want to visit some of Switzerland's most famous destinations without changing accommodation every couple of nights.
What Facilities Does Manor Farm Have?
Manor Farm is a well-established, five-star campsite with access to a range of facilities and activities.
These include:
- Direct access to Lake Thun
- Swimming and lakeside activities
- Boat and kayak rental opportunities nearby
- Children's playgrounds
- Mini golf and sports facilities
- Restaurants and takeaway options
- Small shopping facilities
- Family-friendly accommodation
- Summer children's activities
There isn't a large on-site waterpark like you'd find at some Mediterranean Eurocamp parks.
Instead, the lake is the real highlight.
On warm summer days, families can enjoy time beside the water, while the mountains provide an incredible backdrop.
The campsite itself operates year-round, although Eurocamp accommodation availability may be seasonal and should be checked separately.
What Can You Do Near Manor Farm?
This is where Manor Farm really comes into its own.
Interlaken sits between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, giving you access to some extraordinary places.
During my own travels around the region, I've explored Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald, and the scenery is genuinely spectacular.
Some of the best nearby excursions include:
- Interlaken: Explore the town, lakes and surrounding mountains. See our one-day Interlaken itinerary.
- Grindelwald: A beautiful mountain village with walking routes, cable cars and incredible scenery. Read our one-day Grindelwald guide.
- Lauterbrunnen: A spectacular valley famous for waterfalls and towering cliffs. Our Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen guide explains how to get there.
- Lake Thun: Enjoy boat trips, lakeside walks and swimming areas.
- Lake Brienz: Famous for its beautiful turquoise water and surrounding mountain scenery.
There are also some incredible train journeys in this part of Switzerland.
If you're interested in exploring by rail, take a look at our bucket-list train journeys in Switzerland.
Is Manor Farm Good for Teenagers?
I think Manor Farm could be a particularly good choice for families with older children and teenagers who enjoy outdoor activities.
Instead of relying on organised entertainment, they can enjoy lakeside activities, swimming and exploring the region.
There are also opportunities for mountain excursions, boat trips and other activities that might appeal to older children.
However, if your teenagers expect enormous waterslides, daily entertainment and big holiday-park facilities, they may prefer one of the larger sites in Italy or France.
Our best Eurocamps for teenagers guide covers more options across Europe.
Can You Visit Manor Farm Without a Car?
Yes, it's possible.
Manor Farm is approximately 3km from central Interlaken, and there is a public bus stop at the campsite.
Interlaken is extremely well connected by Swiss trains, making it possible to explore the region without hiring a car.
However, you should check the route from your arrival station to your accommodation, particularly if you're travelling with children and luggage.
A car might still be more convenient for families who want to explore smaller villages or carry lots of equipment.
2. Camping Jungfrau – Lauterbrunnen
EUROCAMP | BEST FOR MOUNTAINS AND WATERFALLSFor one of the most spectacular camping locations in Europe, take a look at Camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen.
This campsite is located in Lauterbrunnen Valley, surrounded by towering mountains and waterfalls.
If you've ever seen photographs of Lauterbrunnen, you'll probably recognise the incredible scenery immediately.
I've visited Lauterbrunnen myself, and it's one of those places that really does look as impressive in person as it does in photographs.
It's difficult to imagine a more beautiful setting for a camping holiday.
What Facilities Does Camping Jungfrau Have?
Camping Jungfrau is a smaller, family-run campsite with a much more traditional Alpine atmosphere.
Rather than a huge resort packed with entertainment, it's a place to enjoy the mountain setting and surrounding countryside.
Facilities include:
- Restaurant serving mountain cuisine
- Bar and terrace area
- Family-friendly accommodation options
- Access to walking and hiking routes
- Village facilities within walking distance
- Easy access to nearby public transport
Important: Camping Jungfrau does not have an on-site swimming pool.
If having a pool within your holiday park is essential, Manor Farm's lakeside swimming or one of the alternative campsites later in this guide might be better suited to you.
Camping Jungfrau is very much about the location.
Things to Do Near Camping Jungfrau
Lauterbrunnen is one of Switzerland's most famous mountain destinations, and there's plenty to explore nearby.
The valley is surrounded by dramatic cliffs, waterfalls and walking routes, with mountain trains and cable cars providing access to the surrounding villages.
Some of the best things to do include:
- Walk around Lauterbrunnen village
- See the famous Staubbach Falls
- Explore the valley's walking routes
- Visit Wengen by mountain railway
- Take a trip to Mürren
- Explore Grindelwald
- Visit Interlaken for lakeside activities
You can also travel between Interlaken and Grindelwald by train, making it easy to explore more of the region.
See our Interlaken to Grindelwald train guide for practical travel information.
For a longer stay, our four-day Switzerland itinerary gives you more ideas for combining the region with other destinations.
Is Camping Jungfrau Good for Families?
Yes, particularly if your family enjoys outdoor adventures.
For children who love nature, mountain trains, cable cars and exploring new places, it could be an unforgettable holiday.
However, it's not the kind of campsite I'd choose if your priority is keeping younger children entertained on site all day.
There are no enormous waterparks or extensive entertainment complexes.
You'll get the most from Camping Jungfrau by heading out and exploring the surrounding area.
Can You Stay at Camping Jungfrau Without a Car?
Yes, and this is one of the reasons I particularly like Lauterbrunnen as a destination.
According to Eurocamp, Lauterbrunnen railway station is approximately 1.2km from the campsite.
From Lauterbrunnen, you can travel by train towards Interlaken and connect with other mountain transport services.
Although Eurocamp recommends a car, travellers comfortable using public transport may find a car-free holiday practical.
Just remember that some Swiss mountain excursions involve additional railways or cable cars, which can increase the overall cost.
Which Eurocamp in Switzerland Is Best?
Both of Switzerland's Eurocamp sites offer something special, but I'd choose based on the type of holiday you're looking for.
Personally, if I were choosing purely for the scenery, Lauterbrunnen would be incredibly tempting.
But for a traditional summer family holiday with swimming and more time spent around the campsite, Manor Farm might be the better choice.
Six More Campsites in Switzerland Worth Considering
Although Eurocamp currently has just two Swiss sites, there are plenty of other campsites across the country.
Some offer a more traditional holiday-park experience, with swimming pools, playgrounds and family activities.
Others are smaller lakeside or mountain campsites, ideal for exploring Switzerland at a slower pace.
The following six are independently bookable campsite alternatives, not Eurocamp parks.
3. Campofelice Camping Village – Lake Maggiore
EUROCAMP ALTERNATIVE | BEST FOR FAMILY FACILITIESIf you're looking for a Swiss campsite that feels more like a traditional European holiday park, Campofelice Camping Village is one of the strongest alternatives to consider.
Located in Tenero on Lake Maggiore, this large holiday village offers a very different experience from the mountain campsites around Interlaken.
Switzerland's Italian-speaking Ticino region generally has a warmer, more Mediterranean atmosphere, making it an appealing destination for summer holidays.
What Makes Campofelice Different?
Campofelice offers an extensive range of facilities, including:
- Private sandy beach on Lake Maggiore
- Three swimming pools
- Floating waterpark activities
- Children's playgrounds
- Sports facilities
- Mini golf
- Restaurant and shopping facilities
- Different accommodation styles
Accommodation options include camping pitches, bungalows, glamping and other holiday accommodation.
For families who normally choose Eurocamp because of the swimming pools and activities, Campofelice could be a particularly attractive alternative.
It's also well positioned for exploring Lake Maggiore, Locarno and surrounding destinations.
Check Campofelice Accommodation
4. Alpenresort Eienwäldli – Engelberg
EUROCAMP ALTERNATIVE | BEST FOR MOUNTAINS AND SWIMMINGAnother excellent Swiss campsite alternative is Alpenresort Eienwäldli in Engelberg.
This five-star campsite is surrounded by Alpine scenery and offers facilities that make it particularly appealing for families.
Engelberg is a mountain resort within reach of Lucerne, with walking routes, mountain excursions and outdoor activities.
One of the highlights is the on-site wellness and swimming complex.
Facilities include an indoor adventure swimming pool with waterfall features, whirlpool areas and a children's paddling area.
The campsite also has a restaurant and family-friendly facilities.
For families who love the mountains but still want access to a proper swimming pool, Eienwäldli offers an appealing combination.
Just check whether pool and wellness access is included in your chosen accommodation rate or carries an additional charge.
Check Alpenresort Eienwäldli Prices
5. TCS Camping Bönigen Brienzersee – Lake Brienz
EUROCAMP ALTERNATIVE | BEST FOR LAKE BRienzTCS Camping Bönigen Brienzersee is another campsite worth considering if you're planning to explore the Interlaken region.
It's located directly beside Lake Brienz, famous for its incredible turquoise water.
The campsite offers a relaxed lakeside atmosphere, with access to outdoor activities and the surrounding mountains.
Facilities include:
- Direct access to Lake Brienz
- Nearby lakeside swimming
- Children's paddling pool
- Playground
- Small shopping facilities
- Rental accommodation options
- Public transport connections
It's a good option for families who want to explore Interlaken while staying in a slightly quieter lakeside location.
It would also suit anyone wanting a base for boat trips, mountain excursions and sightseeing around Lake Brienz.
For more ideas, read our guide to whether Interlaken is worth visiting.
6. Seefeld Park Sarnen – Lake Sarnen
EUROCAMP ALTERNATIVE | BEST FOR SWIMMINGIf a swimming pool is important to your family, Seefeld Park Sarnen is another interesting alternative.
This campsite is located beside Lake Sarnen in central Switzerland.
It combines a scenic lakeside setting with swimming and recreational facilities.
The campsite offers several accommodation options, including camping pitches, mobile homes and lodge-style accommodation.
One of the main attractions is the adventure swimming pool, which campsite guests can access under the site's guest arrangements.
There's also a restaurant, and the surrounding area offers opportunities for swimming, walking and outdoor activities.
The location makes it a useful base for exploring central Switzerland, including the Lucerne region.
If you like the idea of a campsite with a pool rather than relying entirely on lake swimming, this is definitely one to investigate.
7. TCS Camping Lugano-Muzzano – Lake Lugano
EUROCAMP ALTERNATIVE | BEST FOR A WARMER SUMMER HOLIDAYFor something closer to a Mediterranean-style summer holiday, consider TCS Camping Lugano-Muzzano.
Located beside Lake Lugano in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, this campsite has direct lake access and its own swimming facilities.
It's a lovely option for families who want sunshine, lakeside relaxation and the chance to explore a different side of Switzerland.
The site offers:
- Direct access to Lake Lugano
- Swimming pool
- Children's paddling pool
- Restaurant
- Camping pitches
- Rental accommodation
- Access to Lugano and the surrounding region
One of the advantages of this region is the combination of Swiss scenery and Italian influences.
You can enjoy beautiful lakes, colourful towns and a very different atmosphere from the Bernese Oberland.
For families who normally enjoy camping holidays in northern Italy, the Ticino region could be particularly appealing.
8. TCS Camping Gwatt Thunersee – Lake Thun
EUROCAMP ALTERNATIVE | BEST FOR GLAMPINGAnother beautiful lakeside option is TCS Camping Gwatt Thunersee.
This campsite sits directly beside Lake Thun, close to the town of Thun.
It's particularly interesting because of its unusual glamping accommodation, including the SwissTubes.
Alongside traditional pitches, the campsite offers glamping units and chalet-style accommodation.
Some of the SwissTubes are designed for larger groups and families, making them an interesting alternative to traditional mobile homes.
The lakeside setting is ideal for relaxing, swimming and watersports.
There's also a bistro with a terrace overlooking the lake.
The town of Thun is well worth exploring, with its beautiful historic centre and lakeside setting.
Public transport connects the campsite with the surrounding area.
One thing to be aware of is that construction work near the campsite entrance is expected to continue into 2027, so check the latest updates if this is important to your stay.

How to Get to Switzerland from the UK
One of the easiest ways to reach Switzerland for a holiday is to fly from the UK and continue your journey by train or hire car.
The most useful airports depend on where you're staying.
Zurich Airport
Zurich is a useful arrival airport for several destinations in northern and central Switzerland.
It has excellent rail connections and can work well for Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Engelberg and other Alpine destinations.
You'll usually need to change trains for at least some of these journeys.
Basel Airport
Basel is another airport worth comparing, especially if you find cheaper flights from your preferred UK departure airport.
You can continue into Switzerland using public transport and the national rail network.
We've previously explored using Basel as a base for travelling around Switzerland, which might be helpful if you're considering combining destinations.
Geneva Airport
Geneva is particularly useful for western Switzerland, including Lake Geneva, Montreux and the surrounding region.
It's also possible to continue to the Bernese Oberland, although that will involve a longer onward journey than some alternative arrival airports.
If you're planning a longer trip, our Geneva Airport to Montreux guide explains one of the easiest rail routes in the region.
Which Airport Is Best?
I'd compare the overall journey rather than looking at flight prices alone.
A flight that's £30 cheaper per person isn't necessarily better value if it means a much longer or more expensive transfer.
For families, I'd check:
- Flight prices from your nearest UK airports
- Arrival and departure times
- Train or transfer costs
- Number of changes
- How far the campsite is from the nearest station
- Whether late check-in is available
You can compare flight options using Skyscanner.
Can You Do a Eurocamp Holiday in Switzerland Without a Car?
Yes, and Switzerland is one of the European countries I'd particularly consider for a car-free holiday.
The Swiss public transport network is excellent, with trains, buses, boats and mountain railways connecting many destinations.
However, whether a campsite is practical without a car depends on its exact location and your family's needs.
Manor Farm has bus connections, while Camping Jungfrau is around 1.2km from Lauterbrunnen railway station.
Both could be suitable for travellers who prefer public transport, although a car might be easier if you're taking lots of luggage or travelling with very young children.
Before booking, check how you'll complete the final part of the journey from the station to your accommodation.
Should You Buy a Swiss Travel Pass?
If you're planning lots of excursions, it's worth comparing individual transport tickets with a Swiss Travel Pass or other regional travel options.
However, don't automatically assume a travel pass is the cheapest option.
Some families may find individual tickets, regional passes or discount cards better value, depending on their itinerary.
Our Swiss Travel Pass guide explains the main options.
And if you're interested in other European camping holidays without driving, have a look at our car-free Eurocamp guide.
Things to Do Near Switzerland's Eurocamp Sites
One of the biggest advantages of choosing Switzerland is the number of incredible experiences available outside the campsite.
Rather than spending the entire holiday around a swimming pool, you can explore mountains, lakes, historic villages and famous rail journeys.
Explore Interlaken
Interlaken is a fantastic base for exploring the Bernese Oberland.
It's surrounded by lakes and mountains, with plenty of outdoor activities and rail connections.
For a short visit, our one-day guide covers the highlights, while our Interlaken itinerary for rail fans offers more ideas for scenic journeys.
Visit Grindelwald
Grindelwald is one of my favourite mountain villages in Switzerland.
The scenery is incredible, and there are plenty of walking routes, mountain viewpoints and excursions.
If you're deciding whether to include it in your trip, read our Is Grindelwald Worth Visiting? guide.
Explore Lauterbrunnen
Lauterbrunnen is famous for its dramatic valley and waterfalls.
Whether you're staying at Camping Jungfrau or visiting from Interlaken, it's definitely somewhere I'd recommend exploring.
Even just walking around the village and enjoying the views is memorable.
Take a Scenic Train Journey
Switzerland is famous for its spectacular rail journeys.
If you're planning to explore more widely, you might enjoy travelling on the GoldenPass route, which passes through beautiful Alpine scenery.
Our guide to the different GoldenPass trains explains the options, including the GoldenPass Express and Belle Époque services.
These longer rail excursions may be more practical as part of a multi-destination holiday than a simple day trip from your campsite.
How Much Does a Camping Holiday in Switzerland Cost?
Switzerland is generally more expensive than many other European holiday destinations, so it's worth planning your budget carefully.
However, staying in a campsite or self-catering accommodation can help reduce some of the costs.
Having somewhere to prepare your own meals is particularly useful because eating out regularly in Switzerland can quickly become expensive.
For a family holiday, I'd budget for:
- Flights or travel from the UK
- Campsite accommodation
- Airport transfers or car hire
- Food and supermarket shopping
- Public transport
- Mountain trains and cable cars
- Activities and excursions
- Travel insurance
Some of the biggest additional expenses can come from mountain excursions rather than the accommodation itself.
But you don't have to book expensive cable cars every day to enjoy Switzerland.
There are beautiful lakeside walks, villages and scenic areas that can be enjoyed at relatively low cost.
For more practical advice, read our Switzerland budget travel tips.
We've also written about how expensive Switzerland really is, based on our own travels.
Is Switzerland a Good Destination for a Eurocamp Holiday?
Yes, particularly if your family loves the outdoors.
Switzerland offers a completely different type of Eurocamp holiday from the traditional large holiday parks in France, Spain or Italy.
The main attractions are often the lakes, mountain scenery and opportunities for sightseeing.
If your ideal holiday involves swimming, walking, boat trips, mountain trains and exploring beautiful villages, Switzerland could be an excellent choice.
But if you're looking for enormous waterparks, organised children's entertainment and a huge selection of on-site activities, you may find more suitable options elsewhere in Europe.
For inspiration, our best Eurocamps in Italy guide covers a different style of camping holiday.
Eurocamp Switzerland FAQs
How many Eurocamp sites are there in Switzerland?
There are currently two Eurocamp sites in Switzerland: Manor Farm near Interlaken and Camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen.
Both are located in the Bernese Oberland.
Does Eurocamp Switzerland have swimming pools?
Camping Jungfrau does not have an on-site swimming pool, while Manor Farm offers swimming in Lake Thun.
If a swimming pool is essential, consider alternatives such as Campofelice, Seefeld Park Sarnen or Alpenresort Eienwäldli.
Which Eurocamp in Switzerland is best for families?
Manor Farm is a good choice for families wanting lakeside activities and access to Interlaken.
Camping Jungfrau is particularly suited to families who enjoy walking, mountains and exploring.
Can you book a Swiss Eurocamp without a car?
Yes. Both Swiss Eurocamp sites can potentially be reached using public transport.
However, check the final transfer between the station and campsite before booking, especially if travelling with children and luggage.
Are Eurocamp holidays in Switzerland expensive?
Switzerland can be expensive, particularly for eating out, public transport and mountain excursions.
Self-catering accommodation can help reduce food costs, while planning your activities carefully can keep your overall budget under control.
Which airport is best for Eurocamp Switzerland?
Zurich, Basel and Geneva are all worth comparing, depending on which campsite you're visiting and the available flights from your UK departure airport.
Look at total journey time and transfer costs rather than flight price alone.
Are Swiss campsites suitable for teenagers?
Yes, particularly for teenagers who enjoy swimming, outdoor activities, hiking and adventure.
However, Swiss holiday parks generally offer a different experience from the large Mediterranean Eurocamp resorts with waterparks and extensive entertainment programmes.
When is the best time for a camping holiday in Switzerland?
Summer is a popular time for lake swimming, walking and outdoor activities.
However, mountain weather can change quickly, even during summer, so it's worth packing layers and waterproof clothing.
Always check the opening dates of your chosen accommodation and any mountain attractions you plan to visit.
Which Swiss Campsite Would We Choose?
If I were choosing a traditional Eurocamp holiday, I'd narrow it down to Manor Farm and Camping Jungfrau.
Manor Farm would be my preference for a lakeside summer holiday with swimming and family excursions.
Camping Jungfrau would be my choice for the dramatic scenery and the opportunity to spend more time exploring Lauterbrunnen Valley.
For families wanting more traditional resort-style facilities, Campofelice Camping Village is probably the alternative I'd investigate first.
And for a mountain holiday with indoor swimming, Alpenresort Eienwäldli is another appealing option.
Ultimately, the best campsite depends on whether your family prefers swimming and relaxing or spending most days exploring.
Having travelled around Switzerland myself, I can definitely say it's a destination where the surrounding area can be just as exciting as the accommodation.
And with a little planning, a Swiss campsite holiday could be a fantastic way to explore this beautiful country without changing hotels every couple of nights.
